ROAD & I

This design is inspired by childhood road trips. Drifting between dreams and reality at the back seat, this state represents the warm and fuzzy feeling of childhood, where people, roads, architecture, music and myself are meshed into one. Sometimes when I am feeling the lowest, this state takes me back to the start and reassures me that everything will be okay.

Nicole Roquel, who is mentored by Elsa Jean de Dieu, is an analog illustrator and art teacher. Her artworks are often inspired by the nostalgia of her childhood and her cultural upbringing as a Filipina born and raised in Hong Kong. Nicole’s work uses bright colors that juxtapose her characters who wear a somewhat melancholic expression and who sometimes don a creepy-cute aesthetic. Through Elsa’s mentorship, Nicole hopes to expand her skills and further develop her artistic voice.

Bagong Araw (A New Day)

This painting is a love letter to my Filipino-Hong Kong community, embracing all the trials and celebrations that our vibrant third culture identity brings. With that, every new day is an opportunity to grow through our personal stories and to share our memories in our own unique way. In this painting, the memory that I would like to share is of my childhood when birthday parties were held in small Hong Kong apartments and the dining table was filled with classically Filipino dishes, including almost every little child’s favourite: the cabbage as the centrepiece of the table, poked with skewers of bright red hotdogs and marshmallows.

Kiki was born in Hong Kong. In recent years, she began incorporating gaming ideas into her work as she wishes to inspire joy and love in people during difficult times; using her art as an extension of herself, to bring warmth to those beyond her reach.

《GATE OF GOODNESS》

The HaHaHa Group welcomes everyone to be a part of us. Everyone can burn anything they don't want in this central square, legally and reasonably. Enjoy a bottle of delicious fresh milk after burning is complete. Come to the "GATE OF GOODNESS" and join our big family!

Reana Bachiller is a Filipina Illustrator based in Hong Kong. In 2020, she graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA major in Illustration. Most of her illustrations are created digitally, but she occasionally likes to dabble with pen or markers when drawing traditionally. She pulls inspiration from the animated TV shows and movies that she grew up with, as well as her own personal experiences. She hopes her artwork highlights the fantasy and kookiness that can be found in mundane reality.
Reana's work has been showcased and sold in various collaborative exhibitions during recent years, including Affordable Art Fair 2022, Sanrio x VZOW House of Cuteness at PMQ in 2021, and the NextGenHK showcase at Soho House in 2020. She currently works full-time as a Visual Designer at a motion design and video company.

Bubbles

This mural is essentially a wake up call for people to savour each moment, especially the happy ones. One minute they're right in front of you and then the next minute, poof! They're gone. Just like bubbles.

This is me projecting my quarter life crisis in a cute and colourful way. I'm beginning to realise that I'm growing more tired and less young everyday. But that's not going to stop me from living my life and continuing to make happy memories. I'm very grateful for the life that I have, so I'm cherishing the time I have left on this earth for as long as I can. So please feel free to do the same.

Grace Kam, a.k.a GK Doodle, is an illustrator from Hong Kong. She is good at using lines and soft colors to tell stories through her art works. The graphics illustrate the journey of little monsters from their planet "Hoper534S" to the Earth. Her cute and heartwarming drawings are meant to empower people to believe, hope and dream through the hustle and bustle of life.

FRIENDS PLANET JOURNEY

The mural is about four friends who live on Mushroom Planet and travel to different places after graduating from secondary school. In their first destination, they choose to visit a hot spring in a famous hotel and enjoy the beautiful night view of fireworks.

After graduating from the school of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong, TIMARK (Timmy Lee) began his career as an illustrator. He has worked on various commission projects for different brands, and created illustrations for local hip hop artists, like Sam Lee and Anson Poon.

TIMARK is heavily inspired by skateboarding, streetwear and hip hop culture. His art often combines elements of street culture with his personal perspective on life. His work always come with funky characters, vibrant colours and a sense of humour, giving the audience a bizarre yet fuzzy feeling.

The monsters in TIMARK’s drawings are projections of himself. Jody The Lover Boy, the character with the skull face, represents the insecure, lost yet loving part of himself.

Someone still loves you

2022 was a tough year for me, things changed and I was having a hard time back then. Therefore, I hung out and talked to my friends all the time; they really helped me get through the grief. In the mural, the main character, Jody, is being rejected by a girl he likes, and he is surrounded by people who laugh or cry for him.

All the characters are based on my actual friends. They are all weirdos and I love hanging out with them. That’s why I would like to share the energy and sense of humour from my friends to the audience. I think one of the highlights of the mural is the reaction and facial expression of each character. Each of them represents a different perspective on an obviously bad thing. When tough things happen, go find and talk to your friends. They will listen to you, cry for you or even laugh at you. But I’m sure they love you. There is always someone who still loves you.
